Humboldt State University
The Oasis Project has a home—Humboldt State University. HSU is a small university nestled in the Northern California redwoods. HSU has a long track record of collaborating on innovative projects that benefit the community, such as the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary.
There is also a strong tradition of student and faculty leadership on social issues that are key to the success of the Oasis Project. Humboldt State boasts two internationally know programs that were created by and are still lead by students. The first, Youth Education Services, is an umbrella organization of student directed community service programs that serves community needs. The second, Campus Center for Appropriate Technology, demonstrates sustainable technology in a residential setting, providing hands-on experiential learning opportunities to Humboldt State University students and the surrounding community.
With world renowned faculty who specialize in key areas such as environment friendly engineering, large number of activist oriented students, student lead education programs and a strong supporting cast of faculty in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Engineering, Natural Resources and other, Humboldt state is the perfect partner to get the Oasis Project off the ground.
